Have you ever bought a #TTRPG on itch.io with a status other than "Released"? What game?

The statuses are so buried under a drop-down on a product page I'm betting no one even knows.

@nell_do_well , did you ever use a status other than "Released" for Home Again?

The Peculiar Preoccupation of Wilhelm Kasebier

This week's 1879 blog presents a Dodger from Prussia, a burglar living in a highly monitored society and earning a bit of leeway by working for Prussian intelligence as an infiltration specialist. It runs in the family.

Tonight I dreamed that I and another player were playing a #ttrpg called #Pikachu, where the players all play Pikachus. @What Rough Beast was the GM. The game had individual scenes (much like #trollbabe), and in the first scene, played by the other player, he wanted to enter some guarded place, was stopped by two guards and...made them explode into tiny, bloody bits.

I don't know what I should think, but I like games that have a different approach to known tropes and settings, and that game seemed cool xD

Venleitche: July Update

It's the 1st of the month, so patrons just got the latest alpha version of Dynamic Balances: Venleitche, the sliding-stats #ttrpg I'm independently developing on my #Patreon. There's a lot of older public material if you want to see what the game is about. Click through to https://www.patreon.com/wanderingbeekeeper for a game driven by player agency in a world with four physical genders, Neopagan religion, and permaculture principles that have teeth both in-game and in the mechanics. #fantasy #rpg

Super thought provoking. I think she's right about the importance of being able to impose a real social matrix on your interactions. It was something I could do on Google+ because of its functionality, and can't on Twitter and other platforms now, and I'm really feeling it.

Wandering Beekeeper: The Reality of the Divine

Patrons of The Wandering Beekeeper just got a new post on coming-of-age rituals, inheritance, and blood pacts in the Venleitche game world. The public thus gets an older post from 28 May talking about how a culture works when the reality of its Divinity is undeniable. Want to see the new material as it happens? Want to see the game in its entirety, which is patrons-only until it's playtested and released? Want to support a mechanic driven by player agency? Follow the link!

And what does this have to do with missing cats?

Who is Percival Hargrave, and why is his airship the USS Spindrift, registered in the Union, currently in the skies over London? More Wednesday. #ttrpg #steampunk #fasa1879

Venleitche Patreon: New patron and public posts!

My patrons just got the section on Cyclical Observances in the Religion chapter. Everybody else now gets the early draft of the History section, talking about the fall of the Northern continent, and why the Southern continent people live the way they do, originally posted on May 22nd. Want more? Want to see the compiled system as it stands each month? Those posts, with attached PDFs of the development version of the game, will never be made public. Want to help get this game up to playtest level, and take it to Discord? Click through.

In honor of the latest finger pointing hate brigade over on Twitter, or as I call it the "Creators who give away content are part of the problem and evil", I have made a decision. All four of my pdfs that I wrote that are up on DrivethruRPG I have set to Pay What You Want. So now I can be evil and part of the problem as well. #ttrpg #roleplaying #gaming

My _Last Days of Kranium Kastle _Troika backgrounds have become part of David Schirduan's grand character generator.I'm super-chuffed. Now a Spider Financier could go adventuring with a Lunar Castaway and a Troll Acountant.

1. Andrew Ragland, line developer for FASA's 1879, the steampunk sequel to Earthdawn and replacement for Shadowrun in the FASA cosmology. I've previously done work for Earthdawn, Shadowrun, and Mage: The Ascension.
2. I'm a worldbuilder and storyteller. I like running sandbox campaigns and building conlangs, mapping ecosystems to look for empty niches that need critters created, and detailing out absurdly complex alternate histories. Currently I'm doing all of the above for a steampunk fantasy #ttrpg, 1879, and doing probably far too much research in the process. There's just so many stories out there, ones that actually happened and ones that gamers are telling to each other. I have a Patreon at http://www.patreon.com/wanderingbeekeeper where I'm building a classless, level-less mechanic with dynamic character attributes integrated into an early medieval, low-magic world.

A Potentially Gaming Heavy Weekend

Image/Photo
Back to the fun stuff.
Tonight, the first proper session of Apocalypse World: Ironwall with Kate and Kim and Amanda.

Sunday, Masks: Phoenix Academy with Kaylee and Jaime and Jaime.

Monday, Scum & Villainy: The Fast Buck, with the regularly Monday night crew.

(Also possibly boardgame night with coworkers on Saturday, sometime.)

I’ve got a leeeettle bit of stress about all this, since
  • The Ironwall game hasn’t quite clicked yet, and I’ve gotten a bit of dead silence from the players when asking some questions. Things are starting off with a pretty high-tension scene, so one way or the other things are going to be MOVING straight away… (just hope it’s not “off a cliff”).
  • Scum & Villainy is… not a great match for the regular crew. We’ve talked about it, and there’s enough interest in both the story we’re doing and in NOT changing systems mid-game that we’ve collectively agreed to keep on keepin’ on, but it’s still A Thing. (We haven’t even gotten into Resistance Rolls, which are probably my least favorite mechanic in a pile of unloved toys.)
SO: lots of gaming to look forward too, but a few landmines to look out for at the same time.
