Capturing Kindness and Raw Humanity Inside the Minneapolis Protests | PetaPixel

As someone who is used to going around the world and capturing scenes of humanity among social situations, I knew I had to go immediately to the Minneapolis protests to get the real story. When I saw the news showing only negativity and destruction, I knew far too well that it couldn’t be the entire story.
While much of the world watched the rioting and looting, photographer Adam Schluter knew which direction to point his camera.

'Magical and antiquarian': William Arnold’s plant portraits | Art and design | The Guardian

The photographs that make up William Arnold’s Suburban Herbarium appear more as clues than specimens. They are not the plants we would notice as we pass verges and hedges, but an idea of them, transmuted and transmitted through photographic methods which are magical and antiquarian
Suburban Herbarium is published by Uniformbooks with a foreword by Mark Cocker and an essay by Val Williams

So I just updated my Bow Bridge page from the 80s/90s, made it multi-media and (possibly) various screen-sizes friendly. So... I updated the page and now take a breath and continue to process...

Bow Bridge, Central Park - Images from the 80's to 00's and Pandemic of Spring 2020

Enjoy. You can take a self guided tour of NYC - as well as many other places - if you have time on your hands &/or enjoy such stuff. My homage to Bow Bridge, beloved destination of both locals and tourists from everywhere. Then and now. Bittersweet to see again.

From the heart of New York City, in the heart of Central Park... an American Robin.
Very common across North America; as a child I heard these referred to as 'robin red-breast'.

London's lost venues – in pictures | Music | The Guardian

With the post-lockdown future of so many live music venues in doubt, Paul Talling’s new book is a timely reminder of what we have already lost.
Some wonderful old photos from the 70s and 80s of well-known British bands, singers, and various other musicians in the clubs from the time.

Wow. I wanted to share this photo essay with you. I used to work for a company (once upon a time a long time ago) that had it's HQ right adjacent to Shinjuku Station. I haven't been there in a few years, but I love Tokyo and have traveled there several times over the years.

Enjoy. :-)

From my ongoing series of animals that live in a German animal shelter...

Trixie

People became aware of her after she spent several days in their garden begging for food. Trixie was not neutered, tattooed or chipped. Thus no owner could be found out and no one has asked about her since she has been in the animal shelter.

The intention of my posts is not to find people that adopt those pets. This German animal shelter accepts only local adoptions and has a very good placement rate. My intention is to raise awareness for all those beautiful pets in the shelters out there waiting for you to be their hero. Go to your nearest animal shelter to find your new pet. Adopt! Don't shop!
