This is a slightly different project i made some time ago. i had gotten my hands on some tagua nut or vegetable ivory as it is also called. i decided to try my hand at making a netsuke. I carved this small owl by hand, using a rotary tool and small chisels, and made the eyes from amber, i then stained the finíshed piece to give it a bit more contrast. it was fashioned into a necklace that my son wore for quite a long time, which meant a few bits was worn of. Now it lives a more quiet life on his shelf.
