At least the cynical indoctrination works here in my little kingdom. My youngest daughter just asked me if the world was going to be broke (broke, like when you drop a glas on a stone floor). I tried to avoid the question by saying that it was getting warmer. "But why are people using cars then?" she asked (I am not the only one to blame - the school is filing their heads with climate horror). I said I didn't know, and she started to draft a plan where secret spies removed all the cars and instead a brand new bicycle would await the undeserving culprits. I told her that it would be a bit of an undertaking, and she agreed, especially as it had to be done in one night so the rest of the profligates would be warned off. I added that they would probably also be pretty angry about it, and she agreed, but also had a solution to this: "We'll have to have the police in on this, so they can fine the ones complaining with 10,000 crowns".
When you are thinking up plans to save the world, totalitarianism is definitely the go to approach.
